August 02, (THEWILL) — Big Brother Naija Season 11 introduced a game-changing twist on Sunday, naming Flora and Aikou as this season’s “Gambits” during the live eviction show.
Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced the result after viewers voted to determine one male and one female housemate for the special role. Flora secured the highest female vote with 29.18 per cent, while Aikou topped the male category with 9.10 per cent.
As Gambits, Flora and Aikou are guaranteed places in the grand finale and cannot be evicted through the regular voting process.
However, the advantage comes with a major sacrifice, as both housemates are no longer eligible to compete for the season’s ₦160 million grand prize.
Instead, they will remain in the house as Biggie’s secret agents, carrying out confidential assignments and influencing events behind the scenes.
They will continue to participate in daily activities, wager tasks and arena games, and remain eligible to win sponsored prizes and other rewards attached to challenges.
Ebuka also announced that there would be no eviction during the first live eviction show, giving every housemate another week in the competition.
Following the live show, Biggie gathered all the housemates and officially dissolved the boys-versus-girls format, informing them that the game would now be played on an individual basis.
He urged the contestants to raise their performance, saying there was “no room for passengers” in the competition.
Biggie also warned that house rules would now be strictly enforced.
He instructed housemates to respond promptly whenever called, properly wear and care for their microphones and transmitters, keep the house clean at all times, and dress appropriately.
He further warned that physical confrontations would not be tolerated, stressing that violence has no place in the competition.
Fans React
The Gambit twist has generated mixed reactions from viewers on social media.
One X user, @Puurrisaac_07, criticized the decision, writing: “So I’ll go through all the hectic process of going into the house to win the money after how many years of trying, then I end up just being there till the finale without having an opportunity to win the money? Common Biggie, you guys can do better.”
Another user, @Numabeya1647, wrote: “Aikou is winner material and doesn’t fit the role. Gambit is Ricky and Sheba.”
@Puurrisaac_07 also questioned the selection, saying: “What kind of BS is this? Aikou as Gambit? What is Keivo doing? What is Gerard or Ricky doing? Why even introduce this Gambit thing in the first place?”
The Gambit twist is expected to add a new strategic dimension to the competition as Flora and Aikou carry out Biggie’s confidential assignments while the remaining housemates continue their battle for the ₦160 million grand prize.
