March 10, (THEWILL) — Reality TV star and artiste, Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has revealed how sudden fame after winning Big Brother Naija in 2020 left him disconnected from his own thoughts and sense of self.
In a video broadcast titled Life With Laycon, he reflected on this period, describing how he struggled to hear his inner voice.”
“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left were your own thoughts?” he asked in the video.
Laycon said he first heard his inner voice again in December 2021, after his sold-out concert, The Icons Fest.
“After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice, and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest”, the rapper said.
He described the inner voice as raising deep questions about his life, purpose, and happiness. “The voice kept asking me questions like, “Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?, he said, explaining that these questions made him confront uncomfortable truths about himself
Laycon emphasised the importance of silence and solitude in personal growth, saying many people avoid them because they can be uncomfortable.
He told fans to embrace self-reflection as a form of accountability, noting that silence can act as a mirror to one’s life and help identify areas that need change.
Since winning the 2020 Big Brother Naija “Lockdown” season, Laycon has continued to build his music and media career.
