March 17, (THEWILL) — The Benin Traditional Council has declared popular TikTok streamer, Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, also known as Peller, wanted, following what it described as a serious breach of palace protocol.
The incident occurred on March 6, 2026, when the streamer reportedly gained unauthorised access to the Palace of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, and filmed content inside the sacred precincts without approval.
The council said the visit caused embarrassment and disrupted peace at the historic royal seat.
In a statement signed by the Secretary, Frank Irabor, the council stressed that the palace is not open to casual visits or content creation.
The statement described the influencer’s entry as a “serious breach of protocol and desecration of the sacred precincts of the Palace.”
Following a preliminary investigation, disciplinary action has been taken against those linked to the incident. A chief implicated in facilitating entry has been suspended indefinitely, and a palace staff member has been detained by the police and charged in court.
A queen seen in the footage is also facing disciplinary proceedings, which could lead to her removal from the palace.
The council said it invited Peller to appear before a committee of chiefs to share his account of what happened, but he has not complied.
It has now formally demanded that he present himself and submit an unreserved written apology. The council warned that “failure to comply with this directive will leave the council with no option but to pursue legal action.”
The council emphasised that it will continue to protect Benin traditions and the palace and enforce rules to prevent similar incidents.
