February 10, (THEWILL) – Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé have been named as the finalists for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award 2022.
The award, which takes into consideration the players’ performances between August 8, 2021, and December 18, 2022, was determined by four groups of voters including coaches, captains, journalists, and fans.
Lionel Messi, who won the award in 2019, is considered one of the front-runners for this year’s prize. Despite being left out in 2018, he has only failed to make the final three once since the award’s inception in 2016. The Argentine has seen his performances for Paris Saint-Germain improve since the arrival of Christophe Galtier.
PSG teammate Kylian Mbappé, who is only 24, has also been making headlines with his impressive goal-scoring abilities for both club and country. He racked up eight goals at the World Cup, which propelled him into sixth place in the competition’s all-time scoring charts.
Karim Benzema, who did not play at the World Cup due to injury, had a remarkable year, winning the Ballon d’Or for his mesmerizing performances with Real Madrid. The voters will now be asked to select between these three talented players to determine who will win the prestigious award.
