August 11, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup with Karim Benzema moving up to second place in the club’s all-time goalscoring rankings.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team took the lead in Helsinki thanks to a goal from David Alaba after Eintracht failed to clear a corner in the first half. Twenty minutes after the break, Benzema scored to secure the victory.
With this goal, Benzema has now scored 324 goals for Real Madrid in all competitions, one more than the former Spain forward Raul and just one behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s 450 leading record.
