In matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, Benzema produced his best performances of the tournament as his goals saved Los Blancos from elimination and helped them advance.
Benzema tied Robert Lewandowski as the third-highest goalscorer in UEFA Champions League history after scoring 15 goals in the competition last season, giving him 86 goals overall in Europe’s most prestigious football competition.
On Wednesday night, Vinicius Junior, another Real Madrid player, won the UEFA Champions League award for young player of the year. Vinicius had a breakthrough season in the 2021/2022 campaign, scoring 22 goals across all leagues, including four in the Champions League.
