May 03, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, says colleague, Bimbo Akintola, introduced her into the movie industry.
The movie star spoke about her Nollywood journey in an Instagram post, where she noted that Bimbo’s exceptional performance in the movie Out of Bounds, motivated her to join the industry.
She said Akintola helped her in securing her first role by introducing her to veteran actor, Keppy Bassey Ekpenyong.
“When I was done with secondary school, I watched this movie called Out of Bounds. I fell in love with Bimbo Akintola’s acting. Watching her on-screen that day I just said this is it”, Ojo wrote.
“The first thing I had to do was go look for Bimbo Akintola. I found her helpful as one of my friends and I told her I wanted to be an actress.
“She was very warm, accomodating, taught me a few tricks, and told me I had to register with Actors Guild of Nigeria and I had to start going for auditions.
“I started moving around with her and I was going with her for auditions, then she introduced me to uncle Keppy Ekpenyong Bassey and his beautiful wife.
“They were so nice to me and one day he just gave me a note somewhere in Surulere. So I took the note and I went there and they said, “she still has to queue.”
“I was very excited, at least for the first time I was going to have that opportunity to work in front of the camera and that was a big deal for me.”
Iyabo Ojo is among the cast of the recently premiered reality TV show, The Real Housewives Of Lagos, alongside Caroline Hutchings, Chioma Ikokwu, Toyin Lawani, Laura Ikeji-Kanu and Mariam Adeyemi Timmer.
