November 10, (THEWILL) – The Sunshine Stars of Akure, Kennedy Boboye, submitted his resignation on Saturday following the team’s 1-0 defeat against Heartland Owerri in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The departure comes after a challenging period for the club that saw them experienced three consecutive defeats and recorded only one victory in their previous five matches.
The team currently sits in 14th position on the league table with 13 points from 11 matches.
Boboye’s appointment in February this year included the introduction of former Nigeria international Godfrey Oboabona to the squad.
The technical team structure incorporated Kayode Julius, Nwachukwu Ifeanyi, and John Gaadi in various coaching positions.
The former Plateau United coach arrived at Sunshine Stars with significant experience, having managed both Abia Warriors and Heartland FC. His appointment followed the dismissal of Edith Agoye, who had guided the team through the initial stages of the current campaign.
The club’s next fixture will see them face Lobi Stars on Sunday, November 17 with the board expected to make announcements regarding interim management arrangements in the coming days.
