May 01, (THEWILL) — Pop star Britney Spears has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after her arrest in March 2026. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the charge on Thursday.
Spears, 44, was arrested on March 4 after reports of her driving erratically near her California home. Authorities say they observed signs of impairment, leading to her arrest.
Spears has been offered a plea deal, allowing her to plead guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs.
If accepted, she would face 12 months of probation, DUI classes, and fines.
Her court date is set for Monday, May 4, 2026, but she is not required to attend in person.
After the arrest, a representative for Spears confirmed she voluntarily checked into a rehabilitation facility. She was released on April 29 and is reportedly in a “positive place.”
Spears’ legal team has not publicly commented on the case.
Spears, known for hits like “Baby One More Time,” “Gimme More,” and “Toxic”, was previously under a conservatorship that ended in 2021.
