May 04, (THEWILL) — American pop star Britney Spears has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving involving alcohol and drugs following her arrest in March 2026 in California.
The 44-year-old singer entered the plea through her lawyers during a hearing at Ventura County Superior Court on Monday, May 4, 2026. She did not attend the court session in person.
Spears was arrested on March 4 after California Highway Patrol officers said she was driving erratically and speeding near her home.
She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Under a plea deal, the charge was reduced to “wet reckless,” which usually allows defendants to avoid jail time.
The agreement includes 12 months of probation, fines, and a required DUI education program.
A representative for Spears previously described the incident as “completely inexcusable” and confirmed that she had voluntarily checked into a treatment facility after her arrest.
Spears has faced public scrutiny over her personal struggles in recent years.
