
March 13, (THEWILL) — Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota Bridge in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. The entertainer was said to be recording content with members of his production crew when the shooting happened.
He was quickly taken to Blooming Care Hospital for first aid treatment before being referred to Duchess International Hospital, where he is currently recuperating.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the hospital alerted authorities after a gunshot victim was brought to the facility. Police officers were subsequently deployed to the hospital, where they confirmed that the injured person was the popular skit maker.
Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the comedian had an injury to his thigh when officers arrived at the hospital.
She added that the shooting reportedly occurred in Sango-Ota, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ogun State Police Command, adding that investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command said the incident has not been formally reported to the Command.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear as authorities continue efforts to determine how the incident occurred.
Broda Shaggi gained widespread recognition through viral comedy skits on social media and has built a large fan base across Nigeria.
