January 20, (THEWILL) — Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, the eldest son of former England footballer, David Beckham, and former Spice Girl and fashion designer, Victoria Beckham, has said he does not want to reconcile with his parents.
Brooklyn addressed the long-rumoured family feud in a six-page statement posted to Instagram on Monday night.
In the posts, the 26-year-old said he had been “silent for years” but felt forced to speak out after his parents and their team “continued to go to the press.”
He wrote: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
Brooklyn also accused his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with his wife, American actress and billionaire heiress, Nicola Peltz Beckham.
He listed several incidents, including a claim that his mother “cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour” ahead of their 2022 wedding, forcing the couple to find another gown at short notice.
He added that Victoria allegedly “went so far as to call me ‘evil’” over seating arrangements at the wedding and “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola.
Brooklyn said his wife has been “consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one.”
He also claimed his parents attempted to influence business decisions and control media narratives about the family.
Brooklyn said stepping away from his family has eased years of anxiety and that he and his wife now want “peace, privacy and happiness.”
He denied claims that Nicola controls him, writing: “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”
David and Victoria Beckham have not publicly responded to Brooklyn’s statement.
The Beckham family are one of the most high-profile families in the UK, with a long-standing public presence.
