May 11, (THEWILL) – The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, will host the 2021/2022 TotalEnergies Confederation Cup final on Friday, May 20, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo will host the first intercontinental major cup final. Uyo is the capital of Akwa Ibom State, which also happens to be the home of Nigeria’s Premier League team Akwa United.
The TotalEnergies Confederation Cup was held in Cotonou, Benin last year (2021), with Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic defeating Algeria’s JS Kabylie 2-1.
Four African clubs are still in contention for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo scored a late goal to beat RS Berkane of Morocco 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the first leg of the second semi-final between Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli and South Africa’s Orlando Pirates saw Orlando Pirates take a 2-0 lead into the second leg.
On Sunday, May 15, 2022, the second leg of both semi-finals will be played and in due course, CAF will announce the kick-off time for the May 20 final at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
