July 06, (THEWILL)The draw for the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers took place on Wednesday, July 5, at the Mohammed VI Complex in Rabat, Morocco, setting the stage for an exhilarating qualifying campaign.
The draw featured teams from different zones, with each zone conducting its own draw. In the CECAFA Zone, Group A comprises Kampala Queens of Uganda, CBE from Ethiopia, FAD of Djibouti, Buja Queens of Burundi, and Yei Joints of Sudan. Group B includes JKT Queens of Tanzania, Vihiga Queens from Kenya, Rwanda’s AS Kigali, and New Generation of Zanzibar. The qualifiers will be held between August 12 and 24, with the winner advancing to represent CECAFA in Cote D’Ivoire.
The UNAF Zone qualifiers will take place in Oran, Algeria, from August 12 to 30. The draw, conducted by Mootez Belleh Dachraoui, Head of Competitions for the zone, saw Sporting Club Casablanca of Morocco, Wadi Delga from Egypt, and AS Feminine of Tunisia competing against each other. The reigning champions, AS Far, secured direct qualification to the tournament.
Meanwhile, the WAFU A Zone qualifiers are scheduled for August 5 to 13 in Liberia. The draw, conducted by Abdoulaye Cisse, Director of Competitions for the zone, placed the host country’s Determine Girls against AS Mande from Mali, Dakar Sacre Coeur of Senegal, and Sierra Leone’s Mogwemo Queens.
In the WAFU B Zone tournament set to take place in Nigeria between August 18 and 31, Group A features Delta Queens facing Union Sportive of Burkina Faso, Athletico of Cote d’Ivoire, and SAM Nelly from Benin. In Group B, Ampem Darkoa of Ghana will compete against As Garde Nationale and Académie Amis du Monde, representing Togo.
