July 06, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid have completed the signing of promising Turkish talent, Arda Guler, from Fenerbahce, beating fierce competition from other top European clubs.

The 18-year-old midfielder has committed to a six-year contract at the prestigious Bernabeu. The young prodigy had an impressive breakthrough season, notching up six goals and seven assists in 35 appearances for Fenerbahce. Barcelona had reportedly made a move to secure Guler’s services, prompting Real Madrid to enhance their offer.

It is expected that he will face tough competition from established stars in Madrid’s midfield, yet, Guler’s inclusion in pre-season plans has been confirmed, although a potential loan move remains a possibility to ensure regular playing time for the teenager.

Guler quickly caught the attention of top European clubs after making his debut for Turkey at the tender age of 17. Real Madrid’s chief scout, Juni Calafat, played a crucial role in securing the talented midfielder, having closely monitored his progress since the 2021/2022 season.

Guler’s journey from Fenerbahce’s Academy to the first team has been swift, with his first-team debut taking place in August 2021. The youngster’s remarkable achievement as Turkey’s youngest-ever goalscorer, finding the net at the age of 18 years and 114 days, further solidifies his burgeoning reputation.

In Madrid’s central midfield, with the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and new signing Jude Bellingham vying for positions, a battle for playing minutes is sure to ensue.

Yet, manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his clear intention to integrate the young talent into the team’s pre-season preparations. At the very worst, a loan move might be the best option to afford Guler regular playing time to further develop his skills and talents for a future starting slot in the Santiago Bernabéu midfield.
