July 03, (THEWILL) – Fabio Carvalho has been formally unveiled by Liverpool, who have given him the number 28 shirt.
The 19-year-old had been sought after by the Reds for some time; they came close to signing him in January. However, in April, they finally agreed to a transfer, and the deal was finalised in May.
Carvalho was in outstanding form in 2021/2022, scoring ten goals and setting up eight more as Fulham won the Championship and earned promotion back to the top flight. This was despite missing a significant portion of the season due to a toe injury and a coronavirus layoff.
The Portuguese Under-21 international’s transfer to Liverpool became official on July 1 and he was introduced as a player on Sunday.
After the news was released, Liverpool head coach Klopp acknowledged his happiness at signing such a gifted young player: “It’s great to finally be able to welcome Fabio and to introduce him properly to our supporters,” the German told the club’s official website. What a talent he is, hey? A player who can bring a stadium to its feet. He puts his personality into his performances, he is confident and adventurous with the ball, and he wants to make things happen.
