September 12, (THEWILL) — Celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has launched a bold bid to set a new Guinness World Record for preparing the largest single pot of jollof rice.
The event is currently underway at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, where a vibrant crowd of supporters has gathered and continues to grow.
Before commencing the cook, Baci and her mother shared a moment of prayer, seeking divine strength and protection—a gesture that was warmly received by the audience.
Originally scheduled for Muri Okunola Park, the venue was relocated due to overwhelming public interest, with over 20,000 people registered to attend.
Baci has confirmed the readiness of the custom-built pot, constructed in Gbagada, which is designed to cook 250 bags of rice, producing thousands of servings.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean!
“I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
