May 21, (THEWILL) – Chris Brown, American singer and songwriter, was granted bail on Wednesday, May 21, by Southwark Crown Court following his arrest for an alleged 2023 nightclub assault in London.

The Grammy-winning artist was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent after an incident involving music producer, Abe Diaw.

The court set bail at £5 million, requiring an immediate £4 million payment with the remaining £1 million due within a week. Brown was not present for the hearing.

After being held in custody since last Thursday and initially denied bail on Friday, Brown may now proceed with his scheduled world tour, set to begin June 8 in Amsterdam.

Court officials stated the bail money serves as a financial guarantee to ensure Brown’s appearance for future hearings.
