August 01, (THEWILL) – AC Milan’s newest addition, Samuel Chukuwueze, is set to miss the Serie A club’s pre-season friendly against Barcelona in the 2023 Soccer Champions Tour, presently taking place in the United States.
The Super Eagles star recently concluded his six-year association with Villarreal and is currently not accompanying his new teammates for the upcoming clash against the Spanish giants. Instead, Chukuwueze is diligently working at the Rossoneri Sports Centre under the guidance of club technical coach, Davide Lucarelli, aiming to regain full fitness before joining the action on the pitch.
In the absence of Chukuwueze, AC Milan have faced challenges in finding their form during the pre-season tournament. The team has encountered difficulties, with losses in their opening two games against Real Madrid and Juventus. Nonetheless, head coach Stefano Pioli remains optimistic and trusts that the upcoming competitive season will be different. They have a scheduled match against Monza in another pre-season encounter at the U-Power Stadium on August 8.
Pioli and his squad are eager to use that game to harness the collective strength of their team, including the contributions of Chukuwueze, to mount a strong challenge for the Scudetto in the upcoming season. The 2023 Soccer Champions Tour, featuring top clubs from around the globe, has presented AC Milan with initial challenges in their pre-season journey.
Nonetheless, the team hopes to rise to the challenge and prove their mettle not just in the Tour but also when hostilities begin in the highly anticipated campaign ahead.
