July 11, (THEWILL) — Popular Nigerian comedian, Oluseyi Aletile, widely known as Seyi Law, has come under fire online after making a sarcastic remark about a viral video showing Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, serving food at an event in Imo State.
The now-viral footage captured the former Anambra State governor personally sharing meals with guests, exchanging pleasantries, and engaging warmly with attendees at the gathering.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Seyi Law reposted the video with a caption that many have described as mocking.
“This is the height of humility. Na today I confirm sey Peter Obi really humble,” he wrote.
The comment immediately sparked a wave of backlash from Obi’s supporters, who accused the comedian of being disrespectful and intentionally trying to ridicule an act they described as consistent with Obi’s character and leadership style.
“He is simply doing what he’s always done. This isn’t PR. It’s who Peter Obi is,” one user responded.
Another wrote, “You think this is a joke? This is what leadership should look like. Not hiding behind sirens.”
Some commenters also accused Seyi Law of political bias, noting his previous support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential elections.
“You campaigned for the current mess, so of course you won’t understand humility when you see it,” a netizen replied.
Despite the backlash, Seyi Law has not issued a clarification or response to the criticism as of press time.
