
May 31, (THEWILL) –Â The 11 players chosen for the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Team of the Season have been unveiled by UEFA, with Real Madrid and Liverpool dominating with four picks each.
THEWILL recalls that Los Blancos won the most coveted prize in European football for the 14th time in Paris, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the final courtesy to a second-half goal by Vinicius Junior. He joins Real teammates Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, and Luka Modric in UEFA’s best XI for the season. All three were outstanding at various stages of the competition.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, and Fabinho all made the list, as did Antonio Rudiger of Chelsea, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City, and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain, who recently turned down a move to Real Madrid to stay at the Parc des Princes.
