June 3 (THEWILL) — Nigerian music star, Davido, has been confirmed as one of the performers at FIFA’s World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles.
FIFA announced on Tuesday, June 2, that the Afrobeats singer will perform alongside Major Lazer, the electronic music group led by American DJ and producer, Diplo, on June 10.
The concert is part of activities leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“Los Angeles will play host to a high-energy celebration, featuring Diplo’s Major Lazer and Davido, the first artists announced for what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, football and culture”, FIFA said in a statement.
The event will take place at the Crypto.com Arena and will be linked to similar shows in Toronto and Mexico City as part of a concert series across the three host countries.
The Countdown Concert series is being organised by FIFA in partnership with the Recording Academy, the organisation behind the Grammy Awards, as part of efforts to bring together music, football and culture ahead of the tournament.
FIFA said the concert will be streamed globally on its digital platforms, including the FIFA World Cup TikTok account.
Davido’s appearance marks another major international platform for the Afrobeats star and highlights the growing global reach of African music.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest edition of the tournament, featuring 48 teams.
