November 12, (THEWILL) – David Adeleke, a.k.a Davido, has aborted his mission to help a physically challenged male hawker who disguised himself as a woman. The hawker identified as Eniola started to gain attention after skit maker, Ebuka Emmanuel, a.k.a Brain Jotter, shared a video of their encounter.
Brain Jotter said that during their conversation, he learned that the street hawker was also a makeup artist. Moved by Eniola’s situation, he decided to help by transferring N400,000 to her bank account.
Eniola revealed that she is a native of Osun State who relocated to Lagos to make ends meet. Reacting to the video via X, Davido drew the attention of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to her. He also asked for her location.
Responding to Davido’s post, Adeleke said he had directed his office to get in touch with Eniola. The governor said he would assist Eniola in advancing her education or improving her makeup skills. Shortly after, a blogger claimed that the hawker is a man named Sultan who disguised himself as a woman to deceive people into giving him money.
“Nigerians fell for this scam and it is sad. According to the group of people that helped the said disabled lady before, na man, his name is Sultan, he disguises as a woman,” the blogger wrote.
Brain Jotter also expressed his disappointment with the hawker. Reacting to the discovery of Eniola’s real identity, Davido asked the Osun governor to abort the mission.
“Excellency dem job us !! Dem say nah man. ABORT MISSION,” he wrote on X. Explaining why he disguises as a woman, Eniola, confirmed his gender to be a man. He also said he acts like a woman because he needs help.
“Yes, it is true. My name is Eniola, my parents gave me Sultan and I am a guy. The reason why I am behaving like a girl is because of help,” he said.
Asked why he decided to dress like a woman, he said he was abused by his family as a child despite being born disabled. He said his mother disowned him and he started to fend for himself by making and selling beads in a beer parlor.
Sultan added that he later thought the bead business was unsustainable so he decided to learn how to do makeup in Osun. He said he started dressing as a woman to disguise his identity from his abusive family. He also said when he started his makeup business, a woman refused to pay him because he was dressed like a man. He added that he decided to continue dressing as a woman to be successful in his business.
