July 28, (THEWILL) — Comedian DeeOne has criticised Afrobeats star, Davido, for not attending the wedding of music executive and businessman Soso Soberekon.
Soberekon, a longtime friend and business associate of Davido, married his partner, Princess Ebiere, in a lavish ceremony held in Warri, Delta State, on Saturday. The event attracted several celebrities and notable figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
In a video shared on social media, DeeOne questioned Davido’s absence from the ceremony, saying he was surprised the singer neither attended the wedding nor publicly congratulated Soberekon.
“If you know who David is off camera, off social media, na terrible human being. Soso has been in the industry before David, but for you not to attend the wedding and none of your boys was sent to represent you. Let’s even claim you were busy… you couldn’t even tweet…… He wants you to do well but not more than him.”
The comedian further alleged that Davido was jealous of Soberekon’s wealth and success. He also claimed, without providing evidence, that Soberekon helped the singer secure one of his earliest major business deals.
DeeOne went on to compare the two celebrity weddings, claiming Soberekon’s celebration was grander than Davido’s widely publicised wedding. He also criticised the singer for not sending a representative or sharing a congratulatory message on social media.
He further alleged that Davido’s pride and jealousy had affected some of his relationships within the music industry, claiming it contributed to his fallout with fellow Afrobeats star Wizkid.
DeeOne also urged the singer to publicly congratulate Soberekon, saying the music executive had supported Davido’s career over the years.
Davido has not publicly responded to DeeOne’s comments or addressed his absence from the wedding.
