January 20, (THEWILL) — Saida Adeshina, mother of the late singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has spoken about the circumstances surrounding her son’s death.

In a video that surfaced online on Monday, Saida revealed that the young musician had been battling a long-term illness locally known as “Ogu oru,” a condition that often caused seizures.

She explained that Destiny Boy’s health challenges began about two years ago, shortly after the birth and naming ceremony of his first child.

According to her, the family sought medical, traditional and spiritual help while keeping his condition out of the public eye to protect his career.

Saida also dismissed rumours linking her son’s death to money rituals, describing the claims as false and deeply hurtful.

Destiny Boy, who rose to fame with his Fuji-inspired sound, died on Sunday at the age of 22 after suffering another seizure.
