Gabbana has retained his creative role and will continue to shape the brand’s aesthetic alongside co-founder Domenico Dolce.

He was replaced as chair by Alfonso Dolce, the company’s chief executive and brother of Domenico Dolce.

The leadership change comes as the luxury brand faces financial pressure, including an estimated €450m ($525 million) debt and a broader slowdown in global luxury spending.

The company has also been expanding into new business areas, including hospitality, real estate, and homeware, as it looks to diversify beyond fashion.

Despite the financial challenges, Gabbana will remain involved in the brand’s creative direction.
