May 13, n(THEWILL) – Borussia Dortmund delivered a resounding demonstration of their title challenge through a 5-2 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, to keep the pressure on Bundesliga league leaders Bayern Munich.

Sebastien Haller and Donyell Malen played starring roles as Dortmund quickly closed the four-point gap created by Bayern’s earlier 6-0 thrashing of Schalke THEWILL reported earlier. Dortmund stormed to a commanding 4-0 lead within 32 minutes to stun the visitors.

Dortmund wasted no time in asserting their dominance, as Malen headed home from close range after Haller’s deflected strike caught Jan Olschowsky off guard in the fifth minute. A crucial save by Gregor Kobel denied Gladbach an immediate response, setting the stage for Dortmund’s double blow.

Jude Bellingham converted a penalty in a rather unconvincing fashion, followed by Haller’s clinical finish just two minutes later, redirecting Malen’s low cross into the bottom-left corner. Haller completed his brace when he volleyed home from Malen’s right-wing delivery. Although Ramy Bensebaini converted a 75th-minute penalty and substitute Lars Stindl found the net for Gladbach, Giovanni Reyna sealed an emphatic Dortmund victory with a stoppage-time strike.

Borussia Dortmund’s next fixture will be an away clash against Augsburg on Sunday, May 21, while Borussia Monchengladbach will travel to face Bayer Leverkusen on the same day
