SAN FRANCISCO, November 28, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team D’Tigers beat Rwanda 83-62 in the second group game of the ongoing FIBA Afrobasket qualifiers played in Kigali on Saturday, November 28th.
THEWILL recalls that D’Tigers had earlier beaten South Sudan 76-56 in their opener on Thursday. They carried that impressive form into the second game which was against host country.
While the results of the first two quarters were in favour of D’Tigers, who took the first quarter 22-13 and the second 25-15, Rwanda rallied to win the third quarter 24-19.
But that was as far as their rally went because Nigeria won the fourth quarter 17-10 to close out the game comfortably and chalk up their second victory in the qualifiers.
In the four quarters, star performers for D’Tigers were captain and power forward Ike Diogu who had 18 points, shooting guard Keith Omoerah with eight rebounds, and guard Ike Iroegbu with seven assists.
