May 27, (THEWILL) — Ed Sheeran has been named the UK’s most-played artist of 2025, ahead of Taylor Swift, according to new data released on May 26, 2026, by Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL).

It marks the eighth time in 11 years that the British singer-songwriter has topped the chart, which tracks music played on UK radio stations, TV channels and in public venues.

PPL said Sheeran’s music was played an average of 574 times a day in 2025, equal to about 24 plays every hour.

Sheeran said he was grateful for the continued support and thanked everyone who has played his music over the past year and throughout his career.

Taylor Swift came second on the list, while Dua Lipa finished third.

Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Coldplay, Sir Elton John, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter and Lady Gaga also made the top 10.

In the songs category, Myles Smith’s “Nice To Meet You” was named the UK’s most-played song of 2025 across radio, television and public venues.

Other songs in the top 10 included “Messy” by Lola Young, “Ordinary” by Alex Warren and “People Watching” by Sam Fender.

Sheeran also had two songs in the top 10, with “Sapphire” and “Azizam”.

PPL collects royalties for artists and rights holders when music is broadcast or played in public across the UK.
