Eleven Nominees Selected For FIFA's Best Goal Awards In 2025

November 13, (THEWILL) — FIFA has revealed the shortlists for the 2025 Puskás Award and Marta Award, celebrating outstanding goals across men’s and women’s football. Eleven nominees have been selected for each category, recognising efforts scored between August 11, 2024 and August 2, 2025, with winners to be determined through equal voting from fans and FIFA Legends.

The Puskás Award, first claimed by Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, has previously been won by Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Mohamed Salah, and most recently Alejandro Garnacho. This year’s shortlist spans multiple continents, featuring players from Brazil, Italy, Mexico, Egypt, South Africa, Indonesia, Turkey, Argentina, and major European leagues.

Arsenal midfielder, Declan Rice, earned his nomination for a free kick against Real Madrid on April 8, 2025, curling his second set-piece strike of the match into the top-right corner during a 3-0 UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg triumph. Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal features for his curling left-footed effort against Espanyol on May 15, 2025, when the teenager cut inside before finding the net with a goal that helped secure the La Liga title.

The Marta Award nominees include the Brazilian icon herself, along with Mariona Caldentey among other notable contenders. Both awards continue FIFA’s commitment to recognising individual excellence across global competitions, with the voting process giving equal weight to public participation and expert opinion.

Winners will be announced at the 2025 The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony, where the latest recipients will join the distinguished list of players honoured for producing moments of exceptional quality.
