March 30, (THEWILL) – The English Premier League has unveiled its 15-player shortlist of nominees for the Hall of Fame class of 2023, with fans set to cast their votes for the three players they want to see inducted into the prestigious group.
Among the nominees are Arsenal legends, Tony Adams and Sol Campbell, Manchester United icons, Andy Cole, Gary Neville, and Rio Ferdinand, former Chelsea and England captain, John Terry, and Manchester City’s revered Yaya Toure.
The Hall of Fame (HoF) was established by the EPL in 2021 to honour football’s most accomplished players that featured in England’s top flight. The inaugural class of eight players was inducted that year, followed by another eight in 2022. Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger were the first managers to be inducted into the HoF earlier this week.
The three of the 15 shortlisted players who will be given the nod will join the elite group in 2023. Fans can vote for the players they want to see inducted, but there is a catch: the players must have retired before the start of this year. The winning players will be announced on Wednesday, May 3.
It remains to be seen which three players will join the likes of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, and Eric Cantona, among others, in the EPL HoF.
