March 25, (THEWILL) — Nigerian female comedian and actress, Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, has criticised Biola Adebayo for her interview with convicted actor Baba Ijesha.
Princess, whose foster daughter was the victim in the case, shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday, accusing Adebayo of being insensitive and causing pain to the victim’s family. She described the actress’ actions as “wicked” and “insensitive” for giving a platform to a convicted sex offender.
“You said you have also been a victim of rape. Would you be confident if the person you claimed raped you went on TV and started casting aspersions on your family…? How would you feel?” she wrote.
She also accused Adebayo of prioritising views and traffic over the trauma of the victim and her family.
Princess added that she has faced online harassment since the interview was released, including trolling and insulting messages. She noted that Adebayo could have reached out to her before publishing the interview.
The controversy followed an episode of Adebayo’s podcast, “Talk-To-B”, featuring Baba Ijesha. The interview drew backlash from Nigerians, and Adebayo later apologised, saying she was only doing her job and did not support the actor.
In the interview, the actor maintained his innocence and claimed he was set up.
Baba Ijesha was convicted by a Lagos State High Court in July 2022 for sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child and was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
His name was later added to the Lagos Sexual Offenders Register after his release in November 2025. Authorities have clarified that his release does not mean he was acquitted.
