May 27, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has lifted the temporary suspension earlier placed on the collection of helicopter landing levies by Messrs NAEBI Dynamic Concepts Limited, the official consultant for air navigation service charges related to helicopter operations by oil companies in the Gulf of Guinea.
According to a new ministerial directive, the firm has been instructed to immediately resume the collection of levies for helicopter operations at oil fields, platforms, terminals, rigs, FPSOs (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading units), heliports, helipads, and aerodromes, in accordance with the terms of its contract.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Abdullahi Musa, clarified that NAEBI Dynamic Concepts is to invoice oil companies directly for the applicable charges.
However, the directive excludes helicopters operated by members of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) from the levy collection.
It would be recalled that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, had in June 2024 ordered a temporary suspension of the levy collection, following complaints and concerns raised by the AON.
