BEVERLY HILLS, October 31, (THEWILL) –Â Nigeria’s Under-20s football team the Flying Eagles led by coach Ladan Bosso got off to a winning start in their buildup for the U20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Togo courtesy of a 5-0 trouncing of KCG Academy.
The friendly match took place at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch, Abuja on Saturday.
The Eagles went ahead with just three minutes on the clock, when Azeez Oseni tapped home a teasing cross by Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi.
Ikuemesi then got his name on the score sheet to make it 2-0 in the 14th minute, when he put away a cross that was fumbled by the Academy goalkeeper.
Ex-Golden Eaglets star Hassan Hussaini increased the tally for the Junior Eagles seven minutes after the restart with a subtle finish.
There were more goals from former Golden Eaglets striker Wisdom Ubani and Nenrot Silas to ensure there were five different scorers on the day and none from the travelling players from the Academy.
The Flying Eagles will begin their campaign towards the AFCON at the 2020 West African Football Union, WAFU U-20 Championship against Cote d’Ivoire on November 19, at the State Municipal, before trading tackles with Ghana on November 22.
