December 08, (THEWILL) — Former BBC Radio 1 DJ, Tim Westwood, has pleaded not guilty to 15 sexual offence charges spanning more than three decades, from 1983 to 2016.
The 68-year-old appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, confirmed his name, and entered not-guilty pleas to four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault.
The charges involve alleged offences against seven women, some of whom were teenagers at the time.
The alleged incidents took place across London and Gloucestershire, including at a hotel in 1996, BBC studio premises in the 1990s, and a nightclub and music festival in the 2010s.
Westwood was granted bail on the condition that he does not contact any of the complainants. His trial is scheduled to begin on 25 January 2027.
The charges include:
1980s: Indecent assault in Fulham (1983) on a 17-year-old girl, indecent assault in Vauxhall (1986) on a woman in her 20s.
1995–1996: Rape and indecent assault of a teenager in London.
2000–2001: Rape and indecent assault of a teenager in London.
2010: Rape of a woman in her 20s in London; sexual assault of a woman in her 20s at a nightclub in Stroud.
2016: Sexual assault of a woman in her 20s in Finchley, London.
Westwood, who had a long career in radio, including BBC Radio 1 and later Capital Xtra, has consistently denied all allegations.
