Auus 13, (THEWILL) – Brazilian midfielder, Fred, has ended his five-year stay at Manchester United, signing for Turkish club, Fenerbahce, in a deal worth €10 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
The 30-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk for £47 million under then-manager, Jose Mourinho. However, he never fully established himself as a regular starter during his time with the Red Devils.
Fred featured under five different managers at United – Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, Ralf Rangnick and current boss, Erik Ten Hag. He made over 150 appearances for the club, winning the Carabao Cup last season.
Despite being involved frequently last campaign, Ten Hag informed Fred he could find a new club this summer. With a year left on his contract, United were eager to collect a fee for the midfielder.
Fenerbahce fended off competition from Fulham and fellow Turkish club Galatasaray to secure Fred’s services. He described playing for United as “a true dream” and leaves with fond memories. The Brazilian now heads to Turkey hoping to add more trophies to his cabinet.
