October 30, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the gates will be open for fans to attend the second leg of the Olympic qualifying match between the Super Falcons and Ethiopia on Tuesday. This critical match will determine if Nigeria progresses in the qualifying series for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the first leg in Addis Ababa, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Now the teams will face off again at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja. The NFF hopes that free admission for fans will help pack the stadium and give the Super Falcons the home advantage they need to defeat Ethiopia.
“We want to do everything possible to ensure the Super Falcons qualify for the next Olympics,” said NFF General Secretary, Sanusi Mohammed. “The support of the home fans can give a huge boost to the players’ morale and motivation.”
The Super Falcons have missed out on the last three Olympic tournaments. However, after their strong showing at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, they are eager to return to the global stage. A win on Tuesday, would send Nigeria through to the final round of Olympic qualifying.
This is an important moment for women’s football in Nigeria. The NFF is, therefore, urging all supporters in Abuja to come out and cheer on the Super Falcons as they strive to make their country proud and represent Africa in Paris in 2024.
