March 29, (THEWILL) – Fulham striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic and manager, Marco Silva, have apologised for their dismissals in the FA Cup quarter-final match against Manchester United.
As THEWILL reported, Referee Chris Kavanagh showed the red card to both Silva and Mitrovic during a chaotic passage of play, which saw Fulham reduced to nine men. Mitrovic pushed Kavanagh after he was sent off, leading to a three-match ban. Meanwhile, Silva was dismissed for dissent.
Fulham subsequently lost the game 3-1 after holding a 1-0 lead, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the resulting penalty. Both the manager and the striker have now spoken to Kavanagh to apologize for their actions. Silva acknowledged that emotions were high during the game and that he should have controlled his emotions better.
The England Football Association (FA) will review the incident and could issue a longer ban to Mitrovic for his conduct.
