April 21, (THEWILL) – Fulham striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic and manager, Marco Silva, have escaped further punishment after the England Football Association’s attempt to lengthen their bans was dismissed.
THEWILL recalls that Mitrovic was banned for eight games for pushing referee Chris Kavanagh during Fulham’s 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final loss at Manchester United last month. Silva was given a two-match ban after being sent off in the same game for improper conduct and using “abusive and insulting” language.
The FA had contested that the independent regulatory commission’s decision to impose the bans was inadequate and sought to extend the sanctions. But the governing body confirmed on Friday that the appeal was turned down, which means Silva can return to the touchline and Mitrovic will be available for Fulham’s last three games.
Mitrovic and Silva had both apologized for their actions last month, as THEWILL reported. Fulham’s last three English Premier League games include a trip to Old Trafford on May 28.
