
March 17, (THEWILL) — Nigerian actress and producer, Funke Akindele, has set a major milestone with her latest film, Behind The Scenes.
The movie became the highest‑grossing Nollywood release in Ireland and the UK, earning £159,000, and has also made ₦2.7 billion at the West African box office, making it one of Nollywood’s biggest films ever.
Its success continued in North America, where it became the highest‑grossing Nollywood title in the US and Canada, earning $249,000.
The distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, called the performance a “record‑breaking run” and a “defining moment for African cinema.”
FilmOne wrote on Instagram: “A record‑breaking run. A defining moment for African cinema.
₦2.7 billion at the box office and a historic milestone that now stands as the highest‑grossing Nollywood title of all time.
From West Africa to audiences across the world, the film also became the highest‑grossing Nollywood title in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, and Canada.”

“Behind The Scenes” premiered in December 2025 and will debut on Netflix in April 2026 after its cinema run.
