Gerrard Worried Over Carlos Injury After Aston Villa Beat Everton 2-1

August 13, (THEWILL) – Steven Gerrard, the head coach of Aston Villa, has acknowledged that he was “extremely worried” about Diego Carlos following his injury in the 2-1 win over Everton.

The 29-year-old made his English Premier League debut for Villa in last week’s loss to Bournemouth and kept his spot in the win over the Toffees on Saturday. But, with only a few seconds left, Diego Carlos, who transferred to Villa from Sevilla for £26 million, sustained an injury and had to be replaced by Calum Chambers.

Gerrard later revealed that the situation did not appear promising for the defender, saying: “I’m extremely worried about it. It does not look good right now. He needs a scan. The medical staff are very worried. It’s tarnished how I feel. Let’s not say [it’s a huge blow]. I’m worried about it. It’s round by the ankle/Achilles area.”

Questioned about whether Villa will enter the transfer market to add new players, Gerrard responded, “We will have to wait and see the outcome of his injury.”

Next week, Villa will travel to play Crystal Palace. Then, before the transfer window closes on September 1, they will play West Ham and Arsenal.
