August 13, (THEWILL) – Arsenal defeated Leicester City 4-2, with Gabriel Jesus scoring twice and assisting on two more goals. Arsenal now have two victories to start an impressive English Premier League season.
In his competitive Arsenal debut against Crystal Palace, Jesus made an impression without scoring, but on Saturday, the former Manchester City striker delivered to make up for some shaky Arsenal defence.
The Brazilian international’s two goals gave Arsenal a dominating lead in the first half, and he completed an outstanding performance with two assists in the second half after Arsenal again gave Leicester some hope with William Saliba’s own goal and a James Maddison strike.
After Saliba’s put the ball in his own net trying to play back to Ramsdale, Granit Xhaka restored Arsenal’s lead with their third goal, but Arsenal allowed Maddison through to nutmeg Ramsdale and bring the score to 3-2. Fortunately, Jesus set up Martinelli to score the game’s last goal. Jesus had the chance for a hattrick but struck the post.
Arsenal are second on the table with their second win while Leicester are 14th. The Gunners will face Bournemouth next on Saturday on the same day when the Foxes welcome Southampton to the King Power Stadium.
