July 18, (THEWILL) – Tom Glick has officially been named as Chelsea’s new president of business. The former chief commercial officer of City Football Group, will oversee operations away from the field.
Due to his excellent knowledge of English football, Glick was immediately recognised as a potential addition, following the boardroom shakeup orchestrated by new owner, Todd Boehly. Glick has worked as CEO of Derby County, served on the Football League Board, the FA Council, and the Professional Game Board in addition to his role with CFG.
Glick, who was most recently the president of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, has now been given daily responsibility of Chelsea and will primarily be in charge of the club’s business affairs outside of football, including overseeing the Blues’ worldwide marketing strategy and increasing fan interaction.
Commenting on his new role, Glick said: “Chelsea FC is an iconic sports institution, known and admired all over the world. I have been very impressed with the vision and mission of Todd Boehly and Clearlake. They have the Chelsea community at the heart of everything they do. We have a huge opportunity here to enhance performance across the board, on behalf of everyone we serve.”
Boehly added: “Tom’s successful track record as a leader and innovator at several respected and winning sport organisations made him the obvious choice for this position. His skills and experience will be vital as we improve Chelsea FC’s key infrastructure, expand the Club’s products and reputation, and find exciting new ways for our loyal supporters to engage with their favourite players.”
