February 24, (THEWILL) — Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Busola Oke, best known for her hit song ‘Eleyele’, has sparked concern after breaking down during a recent live broadcast, where she spoke openly about the challenges she is facing in her music career.
The singer became visibly emotional during the live session, apologising to her fans and admitting that she is struggling with financial instability despite years of dedication to gospel music.
In the video, she expressed frustration over the state of the industry, noting that talent and meaningful music no longer guarantee success or financial stability.
She said, “I’m done, I never planned to do this, but I can’t take it anymore.
“Gift can’t do you nothing in Nigeria, no, no. To my fans, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I’m sorry. I never planned to do this, but I can’t take it anymore. I’m done, I’m done, I’m done. Good music doesn’t sell anymore.
“How can you eat when there’s no food? How can you drive when there’s no car? How can you be at peace when there’s no peace? How can you hug somebody, how can you not feel alone when you’re alone? When the going was good, there were so many people.”
Busola Oke, who rose to prominence with spiritually uplifting songs such as ‘Asoro Ma Tase’, ‘Ogo Tuntun’, and ‘Adaba’, also hinted at feeling abandoned by some individuals who were once close to her during the peak of her career.
Following the emotional broadcast, fans and well-wishers took to social media to offer prayers, encouragement, and support, with many urging her to remain resilient during this difficult period and seek help where necessary.
