June 02, (THEWILL) — Gospel singer, Yinka Alaseyori, is facing criticism on social media following her comments on the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State.
During a live stream on Monday, June 1, Alaseyori said Nigerians should focus on prayer and avoid directing anger at President Bola Tinubu and security agencies over the incident.
She added that the government and security agencies are working to address insecurity in the country, insisting that “they are working”.
According to her, spiritual intervention is also important in dealing with the situation. She noted that prayer remains necessary to support efforts to secure the release of the abducted victims and address security challenges.
Her comments have triggered backlash online, with many users questioning the balance between prayer and government action. Critics say families of victims need practical security responses, not spiritual explanations for ongoing failures.
Some social media users also accuse her of defending political leaders for personal or professional gain.
