June 1 (THEWILL) — Veteran R&B singer, Peabo Bryson, has suffered a stroke and is currently receiving medical care, his representative confirmed in a statement on May 31, 2026.
The two-time Grammy Award winner is in the hospital and focusing on recovery. His family has asked for privacy during this time.
“At this time, the family requests privacy as they navigate this deeply personal moment together. The thoughts, prayers and love of friends and fans are welcomed and deeply appreciated”, the statement said.
Bryson, 75, has had a career spanning more than four decades in R&B and adult contemporary music, with multiple chart successes over the years.
He rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with songs including “Feel the Fire”, “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again”, and “Can You Stop the Rain”.
He is also widely known for his duets on major film soundtracks, including “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion and “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle from Disney’s Aladdin. Both songs became global hits and won major awards.
This medical emergency comes several years after Bryson successfully recovered from a mild heart attack in 2019.
No further details about his condition have been released.
