Slavia Prague 3 – 0 Hapoel Beer-Sheva
Slavia Prague’s fourth win in five Group C matches ensures their progression to the UEFA Europa League knockout stages. Nigeria’s left winger, Peter Olayinka, was impressive throughout and featured for the entire 90 minutes.
Goals from right winger Abdallah Sima in the 31st minute and right midfielder Nicolae Stanchiu five minutes later, gave Slavia a solid first half. Beer-Sheva’s left back Dudu Twito helped Slavia to their third with an own-goal that did nothing for the Israel club.
It was payback for the Czech as they initially lost 3-1 in the reverse fixture at the Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium in Beer Sheva with left winger for Hapoel, Elton Acolatse, netting a brace.
Slavia Prague go joint top with German side Bayer Leverkusen on 12 points. The last match of the group may still determine who wins the group as these two top sides clash on Thursday, December 10 in the BayArena, Leverkusen, Germany.
Nice 2 – 3 Bayer Leverkusen
French side Nice came twice from behind to level the scores in their Group C tie against Leverkusen but each time, the Germans found an extra gear to shift to and take all three points to move joint top of the group and ensure qualification.
Moussa Diaby and Hassane Kamara had opened and equalised the scoring with superb strikes when Aleksandar Dragovic volleyed to make it 2-1 and saw Dan Ndoye tap in a minute later to make it equal again. But, four minutes later, a header by Julian Baumgartlinger settled the game for a German win.
With only three points to their names, French club Nice and Israel’s Hapoel Beer-Sheva can have no path to qualification with only one game left in the group.
