Kevin De Bruyne

July 23, (THEWILL) – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed reports linking Kevin De Bruyne with a move away from the club.

Speculation had suggested the Belgian midfielder might depart for Saudi Arabia, but Guardiola stated firmly: “Kevin is not going.”

De Bruyne’s contract with Manchester City runs until 2025. The midfielder had previously indicated he was open to potential moves but Guardiola expects minimal changes to the squad before the transfer window closes on August 30.

Guardiola expressed satisfaction with the current squad, stating that 85-95% of the team will remain the same. He acknowledged the club’s impact on the transfer market over the years but emphasised the difficulty in replacing the quality within the existing group.

The club recently signed 20-year-old Brazilian winger Savinho. Guardiola praised the young player’s abilities, particularly his one-on-one skills. He also confirmed that Kalvin Phillips, who spent time on loan at West Ham United, has been training with the first team.

Manchester City begin their English Premier League title defence against Chelsea on August 18. The team is currently in the United States for their pre-season tour, with their first match scheduled against Celtic.
