April 07, (THEWILL) – Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City star striker, Erling Haaland, will be fit to return for the team’s English Premier League match against Southampton on Saturday.
The Norwegian missed City’s win over Liverpool last weekend due to a groin injury but has been back in training this week. Guardiola said that Haaland has been training well and will be ready to lead the line for the Etihad side.
City, who have won seven consecutive games across all competitions, are looking to reduce Arsenal’s lead at the top of the league table to five points with another win on the south coast.
However, Guardiola is expecting a tough battle against a Southampton side that beat City 2-0 at home in the EFL Cup three months ago. The Catalan believes that every game has its own characteristics and that his team will need to be ready for a difficult challenge.
Despite playing before Arsenal, Guardiola does not see it as an advantage for his side. He recalled the 2018 title race with Liverpool, where City played before or after their rivals. Guardiola insisted that City will need to focus on winning their games, regardless of when they play.
