November 09, (THEWILL) – The Haas Formula One team has had their appeal to change the result of last month’s United States Grand Prix rejected, despite stewards admitting issues with current track limit policing.
Haas had claimed several rival teams, including Williams, Aston Martin and Red Bull, exceeded track limits during the race in Austin without being penalised. However, stewards ruled the video evidence submitted by Haas was insufficient to overturn the original race result.
While dismissing the appeal, stewards acknowledged the current track limits rules are “completely unsatisfactory” and demanded changes before next season. Their statement called for “further solutions” to be implemented to address the “widespread problem” ahead of the 2024 F1 calendar.
The rejected appeal comes during a difficult season for Haas, currently bottom of the Constructors’ Championship standings. The team brought their case during last week’s Brazilian Grand Prix, with the FIA and other teams summoned to a remote hearing.
There are two races remaining in the 2023 season, starting with this weekend’s inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix. The final race weekend will take place in Abu Dhabi in December.
